Yet another incident of the big corporation screwing the little guy

This will also serve as a test as it is my first blog.

What seems about a month ago I sent the following message to Esso:

On at least 2 separate occasions, I have been charged for fuel that I have not received. I usually (99.9999% of the time) pay by debit card. On at least two occasion, after I have selected my method of payment (debit) and selected the fuel type and put the nozzle in the car, the pump has registered 4 cents of fuel yet I have not pulled the trigger to start pumping. It starts at $0.00, but as soon as I’ve made the last selection, the pump makes a noise as if it is starting, and the displays goes up to $0.04, then stops. In my opinion, it seems as if the hose is empty and once I’ve made all my selections, the pump starts up, fills the hose, then stops. I still have my receipts from the last time this happened. I can provide any information needed from them.

Here is their reply:

Re: Incident # 1446724

Dear Mr. Levesque:

Thank you for taking the time to contact Imperial Oil. We are committed to providing you with helpful and friendly service, every time, everywhere!

We are sorry to hear that your visit to the Esso branded service station at 1521 Charleston Side Road in Caledon did not meet your expectations. Specifically, you informed us that the pumps may need calibrating.

As a follow up, we have been in contact with the distributor
representative, John Beson. He stated that the station had run out of regular fuel and that the regular hose could not dispense any fuel. He mentioned that the situation was explained to you at the time of the incident.

We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration caused by this matter.

Thank you again for contacting us. We appreciate your business, Mr. Levesque, and look forward to serving you again soon.

What a crock!

I don’t think anyone even read what I wrote. I replied, and am waiting to see what they have to say.
